Liverpool has received the esteemed honor of hosting the inaugural level of the prestigious Britain Tour 2014. The biggest pro cycling race in UK would be held in the month of September this year, from 7th to 14th.
The Tour Britain organizers have recently confirmed Liverpool’s selection as the host for “Grand Depart” on September 7, 2014.
It’s the 1st time that Liverpool will be hosting the prestigious inaugural stage of Tour Britain. Albeit the city had earlier held the final stages of the elite race in 2006 & 2008, it never had the opportunity to host Grand Depart.
According to market reports, the Stage 1 might start & finalize at The Strand amidst the picturesque background of 3 Graces, with 10 laps across a thirteen kilometer circuit.
“This is something huge for Liverpool”, said Cllr W Simon, the assistant mayor of Liverpool & the city’s cabinet member for sports. “It’s a great news that the internationally famed cycling event is about to have its inauguration at Liverpool this time.”
“The championship pulls in some among the classiest riders from all over the world with earlier chases featuring elite names like Chris Froome, Mark Cavendish and Bradley Wiggins. There is a magnanimous momentum gearing up for the sport & we are proceeding with the plans to beget a massive riding revolution here”, continued Simon. “The recent figures exhibit more people today taking to bikes in the city & that there is some actual appetite for the sport presently. Besides with our new cycle-hire scheme at present there couldn’t be any better period for us to house this elite event.”
The Liverpool track for the Grand Depart 2014 is yet to be revealed shortly, accompanied by details on a mass-participation race that might coincide with Britain Tour’s arrival at Liverpool.
